When I was having my new turbo built, I thought I might as well get the Ported Exhaust Manifold with the EGT port drilled and tapped from FWD Performance. After getting my turbo back the second time, I was putting things together to make sure everything was fit and noticed something.

The ported manifold flange had been opened up as much as .30"-.40", and the Turbonetics 2.5" swingvalve hangs past the Stage2 turbine wheel opening of the new .63 housing. There is about 3/16" or more of the swingvalve hanging past the opening, it doesn't look that bad in the pic due to the black marker I painted it with to see what to cut when removed from the housing. After $115 for the ported manifold, $175 for the .63 Turbonetics Stage 2 housing from Turbosunleashed.com, and $120 bucks for the 2.5" Swingvalve also from Tubosunleashed, I had to spend about 5 more hours worth of port work to match and blend. Oh well, power equals time mutiplied by money! Right?

First off, I chose my "weapons of mass destruction"!

It wasn't that hard to do this, other than the time and loosing the feeling in my hand all evening. Above is the pic of the flange on the FWD Performance ported manifold.

Making a template isn't hard when you have a itty bitty hammer and some single layer box material lying around.

O.K.!!! You got me. I'm a mechanic at a Nissan collision center, so Nissan cardboard is what I had. This is the template fliped over onto the .63 turbine housing being held in it's exact place with the correct size bolts ready to be marked for cutting.
Now you can really see how much needed to be removed for smooth exhaust flow. There is no telling what this would have done to the exhaust flow, but I shure as hell wasn't going to try it to find out.

After all said and done this was the final result.
